New pension rules better pay panel package

New Delhi: This should cheer former central government employees. With the Centre notifying the new pension rules, they can expect a higher pension packet from next month. The revised pensions are higher than what the sixth Pay Commission recommended.

Although the move benefits the cross-section of retired employees, those in higher brackets have gained more in real terms. New pensions for defence and railway personnel will be notified separately.

Masand's Verdict: Tahaan, a film of great virtue

There's a scene in Santosh Sivan's Tahaan in which a group of Kashmiri kids play make-believe militants in the same way that most of us played "chor police" as kids.

That scene, more than any other scene in this film, succeeds in demonstrating just how well the director understands the themes he's dealing with in his new film.

Tahaan is a heartwarming story of the friendship between a young Kashmiri boy and his faithful childhood companion, a donkey.

It's the story of a difficult journey the boy is willing to undertake to bring back his donkey, who has been separated from him.

Today's Dronacharyas snatching away the right to live from students

Gone are the days when students used to worship their gurus. Now the time has change, so are the students and gurus. Definitions of all these have changed. Now education and studies are considered as the source of income for teachers who are teaching and for students who are learning (in future they will earn well if they are well educated). Students are not so desperate to learn as they are to have their new look and style, same is the case with the teachers, nor they are too desperate to teach.

Is Fame Your Aspiration?

Is fame your aspiration?
Its path is steep and high;
In vain he seeks her temple
Who
Contents to gaze and sigh
Shining throne is waiting
But
He alone can take it
Who says with ‘Roman firmness’
“I’ll find a way or make it”
