Honda Jazz Select Edition

Honda Jazz has managed to win the “Car of the Year” award and Honda Siel Cars India has decided to commemorate the occasion by launching select edition of the Jazz in India.

The ‘Select Edition’ Jazz is just an addition to the existing line-up. Jazz already boasts of much-coveted features such as premium styling, spacious interiors, remarkable performance and fuel efficiency. So what is going to be new in the ‘Select Edition’ Jazz? Well, the ‘Select Edition’ Jazz will be fitted with alloy wheels, Front and Rear mud guards and Rear Parcel Shelf for added customer convenience & safety of the luggage.

With monthly sales of less than 500 units, Honda Jazz has not managed to set the sales soaring. The ‘Select Edition’ is launched with an intention of pulling the customers back to the showrooms and give a push to the slow moving sales traffic. But, considering the pricing of Jazz, or any Honda car for that matter, it does not really look like an achievable task.

Honda Jazz, which is basically a hatchback, is priced at Rs. 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While most of the small cars fall in the bracket of Rs 4 – 6 lakh, Honda Jazz seems quite a high price for a small car. Indian customers have a lot of options when it comes to hatchbacks and that’s the reason why people are not rushing to get themselves a Jazz at a price which can get them a sedan.

Just two months back, low sales of Jazz forced many Honda car dealers across the country to offer discounts of up to Rs 40,000 and attractive interest rates on loans. We might as well tell you that the discounts were offered in a bid to clear up the piling stocks.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) had produced 1,066 units of Jazz in December 2009, while selling only 269 units.
