Rs. 1,000 cr for laying world class roads in 11 TN cities

Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs. 1,000 crore for laying roads of international standard across eleven cities in the State.

The roads which would have good lighting facility, footpaths and sign boards, an official release said here today.

After chairing a meeting held here yesterday to discuss the project, Tamil Nadu Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Advisor M.S. Srinivasan said Madurai, being the largest of the included cities, would get 750 km of roads.

Laying of water pipes and underground cables would be taken up in advance to ensure that there was no digging of the roads for at least five years after the completion of the project.

The roads, whose construction would begin in a year, would be maintained by the private agencies for five years.
